The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), through the Arab International Institute for Peace and Education in Geneva – which holds consultative status with the Council – announced the appointment of Professor Dr. Hasan Al-Dajah from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as a member of the Institute’s Peace and International Security Committee. This appointment recognizes his academic career and research in the fields of intellectual security and strategic studies, as well as his role in promoting a culture of peace in the Arab region.
This appointment is part of a select group of Arab experts chosen based on their academic qualifications and research experience. It also reinforces the Institute’s role within the United Nations system following its attainment of consultative status with ECOSOC, one of the most important UN bodies concerned with supporting international organizations working in the fields of development, peace, and human rights.
The Institute explained that the formation of the committee aims to bolster its role in supporting international peace and security policies within the United Nations, and to offer research and advisory initiatives that align with ECOSOC standards. It will also develop programs and plans that contribute to the stability of the Arab region and the advancement of joint Arab action.
The Institute further indicated that the committee will be responsible for preparing studies, organizing events, and formulating proposals that serve regional and international security, as well as liaising with official and non-official bodies to strengthen the United Nations' efforts in the fields of peace and development.
For his part, Dr. Al-Dajah affirmed that this selection represents a significant milestone in his academic and research career, reflecting international recognition of Arab expertise in the fields of strategic studies and intellectual security. He emphasized that joining this committee places upon him a greater responsibility to amplify the voice of the Arab region in international forums and to highlight the role of Jordanian and Arab expertise in formulating policies and initiatives that promote a culture of peace and support international security.
Dr. Al-Dajah's selection is a collective acknowledgment of the ability of Arab researchers to contribute to addressing global challenges through their scientific insights and practical proposals that support societal stability and enhance international cooperation.
