Jweihan has also won the local drivers’ championship in the NR4 category four times, in 2020, 2023, 2025 and 2026. He previously won the Jordan Rally Championship in 2022.

Jweihan was supported in his Middle East Championship campaign by co-driver Mustafa Jumaa, who won the Middle East co-drivers’ title for the first time this year. Jumaa also won the local NR4 co-drivers’ championship twice, in 2023 and 2026.

Jordanian driver Sami Fleifel finished second in MERC 2 and in the Masters category.

Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah secured another record regional title, the 21st of his career in the Middle East Rally Championship. He also raised his total number of victories in Middle East Rally Championship rounds to 93, adding another achievement to his exceptional record in Cyprus. His Spanish co-driver, Cándido Carrera, claimed his second title and his eighth victory in a Middle East Rally Championship round.

The International Automobile Federation is expected to announce the final overall championship standings within the coming days.

Shaker Jweihan is considered a local and regional phenomenon in motorsport. Nicknamed the “title maker,” he once dreamed of competing behind the wheel of a rally car, a dream that quickly became a reality on the racing circuits.

Jweihan told Al-Ghad: “I competed against experienced champions such as Qataris Nasser Al-Attiyah and Nasser Khalifa Al-Attiyah, Omani drivers Abdullah Al-Rawahi and Zakaria Al-Amri, and Saudi driver Hamza Bakhashab. What I achieved behind the wheel of my car is a major accomplishment for me.”

He added: “My achievements in the Middle East Rally Championship are the result of years of hard work. I took part in numerous experiences and overcame challenges to reach the top. I look forward to achieving more in the future and raising the Jordanian flag high in various international championships.”

Jordanian driver Nancy Majali told Al-Ghad: “I am very proud of Shaker’s result. He is truly an exceptional talent. I competed alongside him in several rally races in the past, and he has outstanding abilities as a driver. What he has achieved is the result of tremendous effort and determination to reach his goals. His achievement in the Middle East Rally Championship’s MERC 2 category is the beginning of a new chapter that will lead to further success in regional championships. He has deservedly achieved his goal.”
