Meet the Falcons

The national women’s basketball team, known as the Falcons, qualified for the semifinals of the FIBA Asia Cup by beating Kazakhstan 72-51, on Tuesday, in the Prince Hamzah Arena. The team has gotten off to a hot start in what is Amman’s first time hosting the FIBA Asia Cup.اضافة اعلان

The Women’s Asia Cup Division B brings together teams from Asia and Oceania to compete with one another, until a tournament champion is crowned to qualify for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup and join the continent’s top teams.
Jordan News has put together a short profile of each player representing the Kingdom on the Falcons basketball team.




Anoud Al-Assi
Assi plays point guard for the Orthodox team; the 26-year-old has been delivering great performances in recent seasons with the Orthodox team. 





Dana Fadda
Captain of the team, Fadda is the first Jordanian woman to go pro outside Jordan after representing Bahrain’s Riffa Club, which went on to win their local league. The 34-year-old plays center for Al-Fuheis.




Juna Haddad
Haddad is a guard for the Orthodox team. The 26-year-old is an outstanding team player that pushes her teammates to achieve their full potential.




Thekra Shehadeh
Shehadeh plays the center position for the Orthodox team Shehadeh, 18, is the youngest, yet tallest player in the team, which she takes advantage of when there is a rebound. 


Natasha Emily Cloud
Cloud is a former WNBA champion that plays the point guard position for the Washington Mystics. The 29-year-old Washington Mystics player has delivered more than just top-notch skills — she has been able to put her name on the score board every time she has played. 



Marya Al-Hinn
Hinn plays forward for the Orthodox team, and achieved her best performance in the competition against Indonesia, scoring 19 points, guaranteeing the win for the Falcons.



Farah Ali Naf
At age 28, Nafi plays point guard for Al-Fuheis, and uses her handling to control the flow and speed of the game every time she steps on the floor.




Rasha Abdo
A guard for Al-Fuheis, Abdo is one of the most experienced players on the team; her ability to play more than one position helped her team win the Jordanian Basketball League last season.



Liliana Abu Jbara
Abu Jbara plays guard for Al-Fuheis, winner of last year’s league title. At 24, Abu Jbara has been able to achieve a lot despite her young age. 


Farah Al-Shiyyab
Shiyyab plays power forward for Al-Fuheis, and is one of the most valuable players on the Falcons team; the 27 year old has been averaging
five rebounds per game so far
in the competition.



Tala Shahatit
Shahatit plays guard for Al-Fuheis. At age 23, Shahatit, who has not had a lot of playing time this competition, is waiting for her chance to shine in upcoming games.


Zara Najjar
At age 27, Najjar plays forward for the Orthodox team, the 1.8m-player has proved how valuable she is for the Falcons so far in this competition, averaging 12pts per game, 4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.
