U.S. President Donald Trump commented on Ferran Torres, who sparked controversy after wearing a hat inscribed with "Make Spain Great Again" during Spain's World Cup celebrations in Madrid following their 1–0 victory over Argentina in the final.

The hat, an obvious nod to Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan, stirred widespread debate. Torres, who is currently on vacation, has not commented on the controversial matter.
Spain's right-wing Vox party—which had used the slogan "Make Spain Great Again" prior to the World Cup—defended the player. Deputy Carina Mejías stated: "Jealousy has always been the fuel of the mediocre. While some dedicate themselves to criticism, Ferran Torres answers where it matters: on the pitch."
Donald Trump also weighed in on the ongoing debate in Washington after the White House account posted on X: "Everyone wants to be a part of this movement."
When asked about Torres, Trump remarked: "He is a great player. He wore a 'Make America Great Again' hat—it was a beautiful tribute, and I think he did it with good intentions. We appreciate it."
