Company spokesperson Mohammed Al-Maharmeh stated that the video being recirculated dates back about four years, and that the individual who originally posted it had issued a clarification at the time to correct the false information.
Al-Maharmeh expressed surprise at the resurfacing of the video after such a long time, noting that some parties had deliberately edited and taken parts out of context to mislead the public and provoke public opinion. He emphasized the importance of accuracy and objectivity among media users and digital platform audiences.
He affirmed that JEPCO, which has been serving Jordanians for 87 years, reserves its legal right to prosecute anyone found deliberately spreading misleading information that harms its reputation or damages its relationship with citizens.
Al-Maharmeh stressed that the company has never and will never request any citizen to mortgage their property in exchange for an electricity meter. He urged the public to refer to official sources before sharing such claims.
