Speaking to the press upon his arrival in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday to participate in the summit co-chaired by the Egyptian and U.S. presidents, Macron said, “We will play a very special role alongside the Palestinian Authority. We will ensure that it has its role, but also that it undertakes the necessary reforms for the day after the war in Gaza ends.”
Macron also confirmed the participation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Sharm El-Sheikh summit, describing it as “a very good sign and a recognition of the Palestinian Authority’s role as a legitimate institution.”
