Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused Washington on Wednesday of attempting to seize control of the Russian gas pipeline running through Ukraine to Europe in order to dominate the flow of energy itself.

Nord Stream and Market Domination
In an interview with RT India, Lavrov claimed that the United States plans to restart Nord Stream and purchase the pipelines from Europeans at low prices. The ultimate goal, according to the Russian minister, is to later dictate gas prices to the international market, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
Targeting Russian Energy Giants
Lavrov further alleged that the U.S. is actively working to push Russian companies out of global markets, specifically mentioning regions like Africa and the Balkans. He highlighted efforts to take over business interests that previously linked the Russian oil giant Rosneft with Venezuela.
"You mentioned Lukoil and Rosneft," Lavrov stated. "The goal—and no one is hiding it—is to drive these two companies out of the international market permanently. Vigorous efforts are being made to push them out of global markets, including Africa, where Lukoil and Rosneft operated multiple facilities in the north and elsewhere. The same applies to the Balkan markets, where our companies have seen significant success."
Shift in Global Cooperation
The Russian Foreign Minister concluded by noting that in regions like Venezuela, where Rosneft has cooperated extensively, the Americans now want to acquire these activities. He remarked that it is unlikely that peer-to-peer cooperation will remain intact under such pressures.
