When asked at the NATO summit in Ankara whether the truce with Iran had ended, Trump replied, "For me, it's over," adding, "Dealing with them is just a waste of time."
He stressed that the United States would prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, describing them as "crazy."
He noted that the United States had eliminated the first and second tiers of Iranian leaders, saying, "They are like cancer; we must get rid of them."
The US military carried out strikes targeting more than 80 objectives in Iran, according to an announcement by US Central Command, in response to attacks on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz attributed to Tehran.
In a statement posted on (X), the US military stated that "US forces struck Iranian defense systems, command networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 small Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) boats inside and near the Strait (of Hormuz)."
Iran also launched missiles and drones at Bahrain and Kuwait.
