The foreign ministers of the European Union approved a new package of sanctions against Iran today, Thursday, targeting several individuals and entities involved in suppressing domestic protests and supporting Russia militarily in its war against Ukraine.

According to an EU statement, the new sanctions include asset freezes and travel bans within the bloc, targeting security officials and institutions linked to Iranian agencies accused of using excessive force against demonstrators, as well as entities suspected of supplying Moscow with drones and military equipment.
The statement emphasized that the move reflects the EU’s stance against any military support that prolongs conflicts, confirming that the bloc will continue to use all available tools to respond to serious violations.
The decision comes amid rising tensions between the EU and Iran, with nuclear negotiations stalled and ongoing disputes over human rights and regional policies.
