During a surprise inspection visit to the ministry's central laboratories, Al-Bdour stressed the importance of enhancing operational efficiency and accelerating the processing of laboratory tests to ensure accurate and timely results. He underscored the necessity of supplying all missing laboratory materials and equipment to maintain seamless workflow without interruptions.
During the visit, the minister reviewed the workflow and the procedures followed in receiving, testing, and issuing results for samples. He also listened to a briefing from officials regarding the key technical and logistical challenges and needs facing daily operations.
Al-Bdour pointed out that laboratories constitute an essential component of the healthcare system due to their pivotal role in supporting medical diagnosis and making appropriate treatment decisions. He affirmed that the ministry is working on developing the laboratories' capabilities and raising their readiness in line with the latest scientific and technical standards.
Furthermore, he stressed the importance of strengthening quality control measures, adhering to approved protocols, and upgrading coordination among various relevant departments to ensure rapid execution and efficient performance. He noted that improving laboratory services directly reflects on the quality of healthcare and the speed of service delivery to patients.
Al-Bdour stated that the Ministry of Health is moving forward with its plans aimed at developing laboratory infrastructure, upgrading equipment, and meeting human and technical resource needs. This will enable the laboratories to keep pace with rapid scientific developments and meet the growing demand for various types of laboratory services.
Additionally, Al-Bdour directed the selection and relocation of the central laboratories to a new site, explaining that the current building has become dilapidated and no longer accommodates the expanding volume of work. He added that it also lacks service spaces and parking facilities for visitors, making the transition to a new headquarters a necessity dictated by operational requirements.
