Nvidia chip sales to China remain halted
The Financial Times, citing informed sources, reported that sales of Nvidia’s AI chips (H200) to China remain halted nearly two months after U.S. President Donald Trump approved their export, pending a U.S. national security review.اضافة اعلان

The newspaper added that Chinese customers are not placing orders for these advanced chips until it becomes clear whether they will be granted licenses and under what conditions.

Reuters could not independently verify this report, and neither Nvidia nor the U.S. State Department had responded to Reuters’ requests for comment outside official working hours.

In January, the U.S. Commerce Department eased restrictions on exporting H200 chips to China but required license applications to be reviewed by the U.S. State, Defense, and Energy Departments.

According to the Financial Times, the Commerce Department has completed its analysis, but the State Department is pushing for stricter limits to make it harder for China to use H200 chips in ways that could undermine U.S. national security.

Last week, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said he hopes China will allow the U.S. tech giant to sell the powerful H200 AI chip in the world’s second-largest economy, noting that the licensing process is in its final stages.

Reuters reported last month that China approved the import of the first batch of Nvidia H200 AI chips, marking a shift in its stance as Beijing seeks to balance its AI needs with promoting domestic development.
