Bodies of 9 Jordanians Killed in Egypt Crash Arrive

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced Friday that the bodies of nine Jordanian nationals who died in a bus crash in Egypt arrived in Jordan in the morning.

The crash occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, September 2, when a bus carrying Jordanian and Egyptian passengers was involved in an accident on the Nuweiba-Dahab road in Egypt. The accident resulted in the deaths of 10 Jordanian nationals and injuries to 11 others.

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali said the ministry, through its Operations Directorate and the Jordanian Embassy in Egypt, coordinated with relevant Jordanian authorities and Egyptian officials to follow up on procedures for transferring the victims’ bodies to Jordan.

He noted that the body of one of the victims was buried in Egypt at the request of her family.

The ministry also said coordination was underway to transfer the injured to Jordan, depending on their medical conditions and reports, and following coordination with specialized medical authorities in Egypt.

The Foreign Ministry expressed Jordan’s appreciation for the efforts and cooperation of Egyptian institutions and the facilities they provided in following up on the injured and transferring the victims’ bodies.

It also extended Jordan’s sincere condolences to Egypt over the Egyptian nationals who died in the accident and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The ministry renewed its condolences and sympathies to the families of the Jordanian victims, praying that the deceased rest in God’s mercy and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
