Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi on Wednesday extended Jordan’s condolences to the Arab Republic of Egypt over the victims of the accident that occurred earlier that day on the Dahab–Nuweiba road in South Sinai, leaving several people dead and injured, and expressed his wishes for the injured a speedy recovery.
Safadi received a phone call from Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty to follow up on the accident.
Safadi thanked his Egyptian counterpart for the efforts of the Egyptian government and institutions, as well as their cooperation and the facilities provided to follow up on the condition of the injured Jordanians and facilitate the repatriation of the victims’ bodies.
Abdelatty affirmed the readiness of the relevant Egyptian authorities to provide all necessary facilities to care for the injured and complete procedures to transport the bodies of Jordanian citizens back to the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs and the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo are following up on the condition of Jordanian citizens to ensure the health and safety of those injured, provide them with the necessary assistance, and complete procedures for repatriating the bodies to the Kingdom.
Ten Jordanians died after a passenger bus overturned on the Dahab–Nuweiba road in Egypt’s South Sinai Governorate. The bus was carrying 43 people, including 22 Jordanians.
The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs is continuing to follow up on the traffic accident.
