Global Context of the Escalation
A blockade announced by the United States on Iranian ports begins this Monday following the failure of negotiations in Islamabad, an escalation that has already led to rising oil prices.
According to Washington, the blockade commences at 14:00 GMT on Monday and affects all ships heading to or sailing from Iranian ports.
U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the timing via the Truth Social platform, writing:
"The United States will impose a blockade on ships entering and leaving Iranian ports from April 13 at 10:00 AM" (Washington time).
