Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Thursday that Pakistan had intercepted and destroyed all drones that entered its airspace from Afghan territory on September 23, adding that Pakistani forces carried out drone strikes against 10 sites in Afghanistan that were allegedly used to launch and store the drones.

In a post on X, Tarar described the operation as a “blatant violation” of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, accusing the Afghan Taliban of escalating tensions through hostile drone operations after years of Islamabad calling for action against militant safe havens and networks operating from Afghan territory.
Tarar said Pakistani air defense systems detected, tracked and destroyed the drones before they reached their intended targets. He added that Pakistan’s strikes were limited to military targets that were directly linked to the alleged attack attempt.
He said Pakistan would “neither accept nor tolerate” attacks launched from Afghan territory, whether carried out by armed groups or the Taliban, warning that any violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with a “decisive and immediate response.”
The minister called on Afghan authorities to halt all hostile activities against Pakistan and take “effective, verifiable and sustainable” measures against armed groups operating from Afghan territory.
Tarar stressed that Pakistan was not seeking escalation and remained committed to peace, dialogue and constructive regional engagement. However, he said this “should not be interpreted as weakness,” adding that Pakistan was prepared to take the necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, territory and citizens.
