Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said in a post on X that the strikes were conducted as part of Operation Ghazab lil Haq, based on “credible intelligence.” It said the targets included positions belonging to the groups known as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan, as well as affiliated groups.

The ministry said the operations were carried out “with precision,” adding that initial reports indicated 22 militants had been killed and large quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the targeted sites had been destroyed.

Islamabad said the strikes came as part of an ongoing counterterrorism campaign conducted by security forces and law-enforcement agencies under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework. It said the campaign would continue with the aim of eliminating what it described as “foreign-sponsored terrorism.”

The ministry said Pakistan sought to preserve peace and stability in the region but considered the security of its citizens its “highest priority.” It accused Afghanistan of continuing to serve as a “hub of terrorism,” saying the threat facing Pakistan “emanates from Afghanistan.”

It added that the forces had taken “the utmost precautions” while carrying out the strikes to prevent collateral damage, according to the Pakistani account.
