Reports on the exact number of fatalities varied. Channel 12 reported that three Israelis were killed and seven others injured, while Israeli emergency services announced that five people were killed and 22 injured in the Be’er Sheva strike.
Israeli emergency teams stated that search operations are ongoing to locate missing individuals believed to be trapped under the rubble.
Earlier, air raid sirens sounded across the country, from north to south, shortly before a ceasefire—announced by U.S. President Donald Trump—was scheduled to take effect at 7:00 a.m. local time.
According to the Israeli Home Front Command, missiles were launched toward multiple areas in Israel in four successive waves. The early warning system was expanded to cover the entire country, from Eilat in the south to Metula in the north, after missile launches were detected from Iran.
Al Jazeera reported that some of the missiles reached the city of Haifa.
Sirens also went off in the greater Tel Aviv area, the southern coastal plain, Beit She'an Valley, and several West Bank settlements.
Israeli radio reported that Iran appeared determined to deliver a final blow before the ceasefire took effect. It noted that the last barrage consisted of just four missiles.
These developments followed an Israeli strike on Iran and came hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a comprehensive ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran.
Trump stated in a post that the ceasefire would take effect in about six hours and would initially last for 12 hours, after which the war would be officially declared over.
The announcement came in the wake of an Iranian attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
