This announcement followed a meeting in Tel Aviv of the Israeli Security Cabinet. No further details were immediately available, Amad reported.

Approximately 1.4 million people reside in Rafah in southern Gaza, with many having been displaced multiple times from other parts of Gaza.

The Prime Minister's office also stated, "Regarding the hostages, Hamas' demands remain absurd. An Israeli delegation will leave for Doha after the Security Cabinet discusses Israel's position."
