Israeli aircraft launched new strikes on the southern outskirts of Beirut on Sunday, according to Lebanese official media. A Lebanese medical source confirmed that one of these strikes occurred near a major government hospital. The source noted that the strike landed only about 100 meters from the Rafik Hariri University Hospital, Lebanon's largest public hospital, located in the Jnah area on the southern edge of the capital. No casualties were reported from that specific strike.
The Israeli Air Force also targeted a building in the Southern Suburbs (Dahiyeh) of Beirut following evacuation warnings issued for several neighborhoods. A building in the Ghobeiry area was hit shortly after the Israeli military announced it had begun striking Hezbollah positions.
In a statement, the Israeli military confirmed it "began striking Hezbollah infrastructure" in the Beirut area. Low-flying Israeli warplanes were seen over the capital at noon on Sunday, followed by the sound of explosions echoing across Beirut and its surroundings.
In southern Lebanon, seven people, including six members of the same family, were killed in an Israeli strike, according to a Lebanese Civil Defense source. The source stated that the raid targeted Kfar Hatta, located about 40 kilometers from the border, following an evacuation warning issued by the Israeli army on Saturday evening.
According to the source, the family—who had previously been displaced from a village further south—was waiting for a relative to pick them up because they did not own a car. Tragically, the relative was also killed upon arrival.
Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli military spokesperson issued an "urgent" evacuation order via the X platform (formerly Twitter), telling residents of Beirut’s Southern Suburbs to "evacuate immediately to save your lives." The military specifically called on residents of Haret Hreik, Ghobeiry, Laylaki, Hadath, Burj al-Barajneh, Tahwitat al-Ghadir, and Shiyah to leave their homes at once. — (AFP)
