The Public Security Directorate (PSD) affirmed that continuous security and awareness efforts over past years have significantly contributed to curtailing numerous negative practices associated with certain occasions and celebrations. Chief among these are festive firing, driving in wedding processions (convoys), leaning out of vehicles, and blocking roads in ways that disrupt traffic and threaten road users' safety.
The Directorate noted that this decline reflects growing societal awareness and citizens' recognition of the grave dangers posed by such actions, including potential casualties, material losses, and negative impacts on community security. It stressed that the occurrence of isolated cases necessitates sustained security and educational efforts to cement community rejection of these hazardous practices.
The PSD emphasized that celebrating and expressing joy is a legitimate right and a core social value. However, any practice that breaches legal boundaries, endangers lives, or disrupts public interest cannot be deemed an acceptable form of celebration; rather, it constitutes an unlawful act that violates civic responsibility.
It added that festive firing is one of the most dangerous behaviors threatening lives and property, and it will be handled with utmost severity under the law. Similarly, convoy driving and reckless traffic behaviors—such as leaning out of vehicles and reckless driving—cause traffic disruption, elevate road hazards, and compromise public safety.
The Public Security Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to executing its security, traffic, and monitoring plans, as well as taking legal action against anyone committing or participating in these dangerous practices.
