Prime Minister Jafar Hassan emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of public beach development projects in Aqaba, alongside intensifying events and programs that contribute to boosting domestic and international tourism.

His remarks came while chairing a meeting on Sunday at the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), dedicated to following up on the progress of economic, investment, and developmental projects executed by the corporation in the region.
Hassan pointed out that developing public beaches forms an integral part of government efforts aimed at strengthening Aqaba’s standing as a premier tourist, economic, and logistical destination, in alignment with the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision.
On Sunday, the Prime Minister also visited the Aqaba Marine Reserve following the decision by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to inscribe it on the World Heritage List. He praised the efforts of those behind this national achievement, stressing the necessity of building upon it to enhance Aqaba’s tourism, environmental, and economic position.
The inscription of the reserve on the World Heritage List comes in recognition of Aqaba’s unique marine biodiversity, as well as its efforts in protecting marine species, ecosystems, and coral reefs.
The reserve houses over 150 species of coral, more than 500 species of fish, and nearly 1,000 rare and threatened species, making it one of the most biodiverse marine areas both regionally and globally.
