An Israeli military official said that Hezbollah launched approximately 200 projectiles toward Israeli territory over the weekend, as clashes between the two sides continued despite the ceasefire agreement.
In a statement, the official said: “Over the weekend, Hezbollah launched around 200 projectiles toward Israel and Israeli military forces, in a clear and ongoing violation of the ceasefire understandings.”
The ceasefire agreement has been in effect since 17 April and was originally set to expire on Sunday. However, it was announced on Friday that the truce would be extended for an additional 45 days following a third round of talks between the two countries in Washington under U.S. mediation.
Since the ceasefire began, Israel has continued carrying out strikes that it says target Hezbollah and its members, along with demolition operations in areas occupied by its forces near the border. The Israeli military has also issued daily evacuation warnings for villages, with the geographic scope often extending far beyond border areas, affecting both residents and displaced persons from other regions.
Hezbollah has continued to announce attacks against the Israeli military in southern Lebanon and inside Israeli territory, saying these operations are in response to Israeli violations of the truce.
In recent weeks, Hezbollah has focused on using low-cost fiber-optic guided loitering drones, known as FPV (First-Person View) drones, which pose a challenge to the military due to the difficulty of intercepting them before they reach their targets.
