Al-Sudani chaired an extensive security meeting at the headquarters of the 7th Division in Al-Qaim, attended by the Interior Minister, Chief of Staff, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, leaders of the army, air force, border forces, military intelligence director, and the Anbar Operations Commander for the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).
During the meeting, officials briefed him on the measures taken to secure the borders, address ongoing challenges, and enhance military capabilities to counter potential security threats.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continuing intelligence and field efforts across all units, expressing high confidence in the armed forces and security agencies. He praised the significant security achievements and victories of these forces, which have contributed to sustainable stability across Iraq, noting that border protection remains a top national security priority.
Al-Sudani’s visit comes amid escalating clashes in northern Syria between the Syrian Army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), alongside reports of ISIS members escaping from SDF-controlled prisons, heightening cross-border security risks.
