Tasnim suggested that U.S. President Donald Trump retreated from attacking vital Iranian infrastructure under pressure from financial markets, warning that Tehran will continue to defend itself until it achieves deterrence.

Conflicting Narratives on Dialogue
Meanwhile, Mehr News Agency cited the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirming that while there are initiatives to de-escalate, the Iranian position remains that the United States must be the primary interlocutor, given that Iran did not start the war.

The Ministry, as reported by Mehr, claimed that President Trump’s statements are aimed at lowering energy prices and "buying time" for his military plans.

The U.S. Stance
These Iranian statements follow President Trump's announcement on Monday to postpone targeting the Iranian power grid, claiming that the U.S. and Iran had engaged in "constructive talks." Trump stated in a social media post that he would delay strikes against power plants and energy infrastructure, noting that discussions would continue throughout the week.
