The far-right minister wrote on his Telegram channel on Monday: "The Trump deal does not bind us to anything… We are not a party to it, and it does not guarantee our security."
He added, "We must not accept anything less than the dismantling of Hezbollah. We should not withdraw from a single inch of the territory that our soldiers have controlled and cleared of terrorist infrastructure (in Lebanon)."
U.S. and Iranian officials stated that they have reached a framework to end the war between the two countries, lift the U.S. blockade imposed on Iran, and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This preliminary agreement led to a drop in oil prices but kept the fate of the Iranian nuclear program contingent on subsequent negotiations.
U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on his platform, Truth Social, at 5:30 PM local time in Washington on Sunday (21:30 GMT): "The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete."
His post came shortly after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, whose country is playing the role of mediator, also announced that an agreement had been reached.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is scheduled to be officially signed on Friday in Switzerland. The detailed terms of this agreement are not yet known.
