In an official statement, the Brigades said:
"During a coordinated ambush on Tuesday afternoon, Al-Qassam fighters successfully destroyed a Zionist APC using a 'Shawaz' explosive device placed inside the command cabin, causing the vehicle and its crew to burn completely."

The statement continued:
"Our fighters then targeted a second Israeli APC with a 'Fedayeen Operation' explosive near the Ali Ibn Abi Talib Mosque in the Ma’an area, south of Khan Younis. The fighters observed the landing of evacuation helicopters, which continued their operation for several hours."

The Israeli occupation army had earlier confirmed the deaths of one officer and six soldiers in battles in southern Gaza, following Israeli media reports that four soldiers were killed and 17 injured in a complex ambush in Khan Younis.

The army also acknowledged that 16 other soldiers from the 605th Combat Engineering Battalion were injured in the resistance ambush, noting that the seven soldiers were completely incinerated when an explosive detonated under a Puma engineering vehicle in Khan Younis, making their evacuation extremely difficult.
