Seven members of the Iraqi army were killed in a strike on a military base in the Al-Anbar Governorate in western Iraq on Wednesday morning, according to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense.

In an official statement, the ministry reported that the raid on the military site in the Habbaniya area of Anbar resulted in the "martyrdom of 7 of our heroic fighters and the injury of 13 others," noting that "search operations are still ongoing" at the scene.
A security official stated that the site houses "personnel from the Iraqi Army, the Federal Police, and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF)," which are integrated into the Iraqi military establishment and fall under the command of the Armed Forces.
The Habbaniya base had previously been targeted at dawn on Tuesday in a strike that left 15 PMF fighters dead. The PMF has accused the United States of carrying out that attack.
