The Palestinian Central Elections Commission announced the conclusion of the voting process for the 2026 local elections in the West Bank, as polling centers closed their doors at exactly 7:00 p.m., while allowing voters already inside polling stations to cast their ballots after the official closing time.
The commission confirmed in a press statement that the voting process proceeded calmly and smoothly, with no significant violations recorded. It explained that the number of voters reached 512,510 male and female voters, representing a participation rate of 53.44% in the West Bank.
It added that the commission’s teams immediately began the vote-counting process inside polling stations in the presence of list representatives, candidates, observers, and journalists. At the end of this process, the number of votes received by the candidate lists in each station will be published, followed by the collection of results, verification of counting reports, and official approval of the results at the commission’s headquarters in Al-Bireh through a centralized process, in preparation for their announcement during a press conference on Sunday afternoon at the media center in Al-Bireh.
Earlier, the Central Elections Commission had also announced the closure of polling centers in the city of Deir al-Balah in the Gaza Strip, where 12 polling centers were opened, and the vote-counting process began in the presence of observers, list representatives, and accredited journalists.
The commission explained that voter turnout in Deir al-Balah reached 22.66%, with 15,962 voters casting their ballots out of 70,449 eligible voters.
