A state of atmospheric instability is expected to affect the Kingdom on Wednesday, with temperatures forecast to rise about 8–9°C above their seasonal averages. The weather will be generally warm, with medium- and high-altitude clouds appearing.
By midday, the Kingdom will gradually be impacted by unstable weather conditions, as clouds increase at various altitudes, turning the skies from partly cloudy to cloudy. Intermittent rain showers are expected to begin in southern regions, including the city of Aqaba, before extending to several areas across the country, including the capital, Amman.
Rainfall may be heavy at times in certain areas, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, potentially leading to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea region. Winds will be southeasterly and active, with occasional strong gusts that may stir up dust and reduce horizontal visibility, particularly in desert regions.
The Meteorological Department warned of the of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including Aqaba and the Dead Sea region, as well as reduced visibility due to dust prior to rainfall—especially in desert areas—where visibility may at times drop to near zero on desert roads. It also warned of thunderstorms, hail, strong winds, and slippery roads in areas experiencing rainfall.
Temperatures are expected to range as follows:
• East Amman: 26°C / 12°C
• West Amman: 24°C / 11°C
• Northern highlands: 20°C / 9°C
• Sharah highlands: 22°C / 10°C
• Desert regions: 28°C / 9°C
• Plains: 27°C / 12°C
• Northern Jordan Valley: 29°C / 16°C
• Southern Jordan Valley: 31°C / 19°C
• Dead Sea: 30°C / 18°C
• Gulf of Aqaba: 32°C / 19°C
On Thursday, the Kingdom is expected to be affected by a relatively cold and moist air mass associated with a low-pressure system, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures. The weather will turn relatively cold and partly to mostly cloudy, with intermittent rainfall in northern and central regions, as well as limited parts of the eastern and southwestern areas. Thunderstorms and hail are possible at times, with active southwesterly winds and strong gusts that may raise dust in some desert areas.
A further drop in temperatures is expected on Friday, with cold and partly to mostly cloudy conditions. Rainfall will continue intermittently in northern and central regions, sometimes accompanied by thunder and hail. There is also a chance of light showers in limited eastern and southwestern areas, with active westerly winds.
Temperatures will continue to decline on Saturday, with cold and partly to mostly cloudy weather. Rain is expected in most regions, occasionally heavy—especially in western parts of the Kingdom—accompanied at times by thunder and hail. Winds will be southwesterly to westerly and active.
