The United States military announced on Tuesday that it carried out strikes on Iranian anti-ship missile sites near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, using bunker-buster bombs considered among the most powerful in the US arsenal.
In a statement posted on X, US Central Command said: “US forces successfully employed multiple 5,000-pound bunker-buster munitions against fortified Iranian missile sites along the Iranian coast near the Strait of Hormuz.”
The statement added that “Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles at these locations posed a threat to international navigation in the strait.”
Israel and the United States have been conducting airstrikes on Iran since Saturday, February 28, which reportedly led to the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has responded by launching missiles and drones targeting Israel and countries across the region.
