According to her, this change is normal and represents the most common age-related shift, as the eye's natural lens loses its elasticity and hardens with age. Individuals with this condition may notice that text becomes blurry—particularly in dim lighting—and may experience difficulty reading fine print. Dry eye is also a common age-related change, as the lacrimal glands begin producing fewer tears over time.
She stated: "This is due to hormonal changes, especially in women during perimenopause. While this is natural, it requires immediate management using moisturizing eye drops to avoid corneal damage."
The doctor noted that vitreous opacities become more noticeable with advancing age, which is why individuals over 40 frequently complain of an increased number of floaters in their field of vision.
