The Mexican capital witnessed a horrifying mass killing that has sparked a wave of grief and outrage, after gunmen assassinated Mexican musician and singer Jonathan Meléndez, along with his pregnant wife, young child, and the children's nanny, in addition to two of their relatives, in a treacherous armed attack that targeted their vehicle.

According to security reports issued by authorities, the incident occurred while the family was riding in their car, when gunmen ambushed them and opened heavy fire before fleeing the scene.
The attack claimed the lives of the artist, his wife who was in the final months of her pregnancy, their young child, as well as the children's nanny and two other family members.
Police cordoned off the scene immediately to preserve evidence, while the public prosecutor's office launched a broad investigation to uncover the motives behind the crime and identify the perpetrators, amid speculation that the attack may be linked to organized crime activity operating in the area.
The crime has caused widespread shock and condemnation across Mexico's entertainment community and society at large, with condolence messages pouring in for the victims' family, amid widespread public and artistic calls for security authorities to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
