Not all women seek the same things when thinking about the life they want to live. For some, peace and stability may be a priority, while others consider their ability to adapt to change more important. A third may feel that life needs a purpose that goes beyond comfort and achievement.

These choices are influenced by how we view the world and by the values and ideas we use to understand our experiences and make decisions.
As a result, we may live according to a particular vision of life without taking much time to understand what truly drives our choices.
The ways of living that shape our choices
In an article published by Psychology Today titled “Three Paradigms of Living,” author Alex Pattakos presents three ways of living: contentment, flexibility and meaning. Each offers a different approach to navigating life and seeking fulfillment.
1. The contentment approach
This approach is based on feeling accepting and at peace with your current life. It may help reduce comparisons with others and the accompanying sense of never having enough.
However, according to the article, contentment should not become an excuse for rejecting change. Some feelings of dissatisfaction can be beneficial because they motivate us to learn, grow and discover what we truly want.
2. The flexibility approach
This approach begins with accepting that change is part of life and that not every circumstance can be controlled. Rather than trying to keep everything as it is, flexibility focuses on your ability to deal with new circumstances, regain your balance and take appropriate steps even when things do not go according to plan.
3. The meaning approach
This approach focuses on discovering what makes life valuable to you, whether through relationships, work, serving others or pursuing a purpose that goes beyond everyday tasks. The article suggests that a sense of meaning comes from within, so you should not borrow other people’s definitions of a good life and make them the standard for your own.
You may not need to choose just one approach for your entire life. Contentment can give you room to accept things as they are, flexibility can help you navigate change, and meaning can give you a reason to keep moving in a direction that aligns with your values.
The most important question is not which approach is best, but what you need from your life at this stage. What you seek today may be entirely different from what you need tomorrow.
