Fossils of the Wollemi tree have been found in Jordan in two different locations.
In the first location, a 255-million-year-old branch was found at the eastern part of the Dead Sea. The branch was found by Professor Benjamin Bomflore from the University of Münster, Germany.

In the second location, remains of gymnosperm trees, the pine tree, were found on the Zarqa River near Jerash. Scientist Abbas Haddadin found them in Jordanian amber, where he found seeds, leaves, and pollen.
Moreover, he found leaves and bracts of these trees imprinted in the black soil in lignite soil.
The fossils that we found in Jordan are from gymnosperm forests, the same as the Wollemi tree, which was found alive in Australia in a deep valley at the west of Sydney. Jordan and Australia were part of the supercontinent Gondwana 140 million years ago, covered with gymnosperm forests.
