The ancient city of Petra witnessed a surge in tourism over the past two days, recording 4,824 visitors of various nationalities, according to statistics issued by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority.اضافة اعلان

The figures show that the majority of visitors were Jordanians, numbering 3,077. Of these, 2,185 visited under the “Urdunna Jannah” (Jordan is Paradise) program, including 1,044 who stayed overnight in Petra hotels. An additional 892 Jordanians visited outside the program, reflecting the strong turnout of local tourists to the Rose-Red City and their engagement with the national domestic tourism support initiative.

Meanwhile, foreign visitors totaled 1,413, Arab visitors 241, and residents within the Kingdom 93.

Around 24 hotels in Petra participated in hosting visitors under the “Urdunna Jannah” program, which enriched the tourist experience and supported the hospitality sector as well as local tourism establishments.

Dr. Fares Al-Breizat, Chairman of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, emphasized that the predominance of Jordanian visitors and participants in the “Urdunna Jannah” program highlights its success in boosting domestic tourism and increasing hotel occupancy rates, with positive impacts on the local community and service providers.

He also noted that the number of foreign visitors has begun to rise gradually, expressing hope that Petra will witness further growth in tourism in the coming period with the gradual return of low-cost airlines to the Kingdom.
