The "Ed Be Ed for Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship" association took part in the "Bee-Friendly Agriculture Day" events, held at the "Rahaya" farm in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, as part of the activities of the PLANBEE project, which aims to strengthen local beekeeping networks and develop entrepreneurship in the sector.اضافة اعلان

According to a statement issued by the association today, Sunday, the event included planting a range of bee-friendly flowers and herbs that attract pollinators, with the aim of enhancing biodiversity, providing sustainable food sources for bees, and contributing to protecting them from environmental threats.

The association affirmed that its participation comes within its commitment to strengthening Jordan's presence in regional environmental initiatives, and exchanging expertise with partners in the Mediterranean region, in a way that supports the development of the beekeeping economy and raises local communities' awareness of the importance of protecting natural pollinators.

It noted that beekeeping and natural pollinators are essential elements in sustaining food systems and natural resources, as well as their role in supporting rural livelihoods and enhancing local economic development opportunities.

The project aims to stimulate local economic growth by developing the beekeeping sector and strengthening its capabilities in sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship. It is implemented by an alliance of 7 partners from 6 countries: Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine.

The project is funded 89% by the European Union, under the "Interreg NEXT MED" programme, with a total budget of around 2.8 million euros, of which nearly 2.5 million euros is a direct contribution from the European Union.
