AMMAN — Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department Hussam Abu Ali said that the tax reforms implemented by the department achieve tax justice and serve committed taxpayers, and that addressing distortions, imbalances, and loopholes in tax legislation, to avoid tax evasion, is in line with international standards, local media outlets have reported.اضافة اعلان

Abu Ali said on Wednesday that legislation is the most important pillar in tax reforms, as it includes setting standard terms for incentives, establishing a supply base for goods and services, unifying tax administration, and reviewing tax incentives related to the investment environment.

Speaking at a seminar at the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Abu Ali noted that the amended law of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone 2021 authorizes the Income and Sales Tax Department to audit and collect income tax and general sales tax in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, thus unifying the tax administration while maintaining benefits and exemptions for those registered in Aqaba.

He added that the reforms adopted by the department played a role in increasing tax compliance and expanding the taxpayer base, especially in regard to fighting tax evasion, and applying international standards to them.

Abu Ali also said that the reforms did not impose any increase in the current applied taxes, nor did they impose new taxes.

He pointed out that the law Transfer Pricing No. 40 for the year 2021 was issued to enhance transparency and justice among taxpayers through imposing a fair price in transactions, as well as applying the standard conditions for institutions registered in development areas.
