According to the report, Washington is considering options such as targeting vessels belonging to the so-called Russian “shadow fleet,” which consists of tankers used to transport Moscow’s oil, as well as intermediaries who facilitate related transactions.

Bloomberg added that the new measures could be announced as early as this week, noting that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed the move during a meeting with a group of European ambassadors earlier this week.

Meanwhile, talks are taking place in Berlin to discuss the latest version of the 20-point European-Ukrainian peace plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, days after Kyiv submitted its revised version to Washington.

The discussions are focused on a ceasefire and the drafting of a framework for a political agreement, alongside consultations involving European leaders, in preparation for a summit to be hosted by the German capital to enhance coordination and push toward a comprehensive diplomatic settlement.
