According to a statement by the Department of Statistics on Tuesday, Jordan ranks third in the Arab region after Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, surpassing countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, and Palestine.

Jordan achieved a total score of 78.8, reflecting a 40 percent increase compared to the 2016 baseline year. This progress highlights the significant development of the national statistical system led by the Department of Statistics, placing Jordan among countries with high statistical performance according to the World Bank classification.

The Statistical Performance Index is a key international tool used to measure countries’ performance in developing and utilizing statistical systems across five main pillars. Its purpose is to enhance countries’ capacity to collect, analyze, and disseminate the statistical data necessary to support public policy and decision-making, with a focus on improving data quality and accuracy.

One of the main contributors to this improvement was the Services Pillar, which measures the quality and transparency of available statistical services. Jordan scored 93.6 points in this pillar, reflecting a 100 percent increase compared to 2016.

This advancement indicates that Jordan not only strengthens its statistical standing but also establishes a robust system that supports the Sustainable Development Goals by enhancing user confidence in data and improving the quality of national policies based on it.

The achieved results are the outcome of national efforts to develop the statistical system and provide the necessary legislation and resources to support it. Jordan remains committed to continuously improving statistical performance to serve the development process and enhance the country’s regional and global standing.
