Hani Abu Hassan, Chairman of the Irbid Chamber of Industry, confirmed that March saw an increase in export value to $91.8 million, compared to $89.4 million during the same month in 2025. This reflects the sector's ability to maintain its production and export momentum.
He explained that total exports for the first three months of 2026 reached approximately $265.4 million, compared to $240.3 million for the same period last year—an increase of $25.1 million, representing a 10.5% growth rate. This is a clear indicator of the resilience of the industrial sector in the Northern Region and its capacity to adapt to economic and geopolitical shifts.
Sector Performance:
Leather and Garments: Continued to lead exports, rising to $232 million (a 12% growth) compared to $209 million last year, driven by sustained international demand.
Food and Agriculture: Grew by 29%, reaching $18 million.
Construction Industries: Achieved a remarkable 35% growth, reflecting a diversified production base in the governorate.
Conversely, some sectors experienced declines, most notably Therapeutic Industries and Medical Supplies (down 6% to $8.2 million) and Chemicals and Cosmetics (down 12.8% to $4.1 million), along with drops in the plastic, packaging, and paper industries.
Export Destinations:
USA: Ranked first with $180.1 million in imports (6.2% growth).
Netherlands: Recorded a striking 76.5% growth, reaching $8.9 million.
Germany: Approximately $8.6 million (19.9% growth).
Saudi Arabia: Approximately $7.2 million (4.4% growth).
Certificates of Origin:
Abu Hassan noted that the number of certificates of origin issued by the Chamber during Q1 2026 rose to 3,559, a 12% increase from the 3,180 certificates issued in the same period last year. The Leather and Garments sector accounted for the largest share with 2,618 certificates, followed by the Food and Agriculture sector with 360.
He concluded by emphasizing that these indicators demonstrate the resilience of Jordanian industry in the north, stressing the importance of continued support to enhance its competitiveness and maintain this positive performance in the coming period.
