Hatem Al-Zoubi, the representative of the Electrical and Electronics sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, confirmed on Monday that energy-saving devices are available in large quantities within the local market. He emphasized that price stability and the continuous flow of goods eliminate any need for "panic buying."

Al-Zoubi noted an increasing demand for solar-powered lighting systems as citizens enhance their precautionary measures. According to a statement released today, purchases are primarily concentrated on solar panels and their components—including batteries and charging units—as well as portable solar chargers and lighting for gardens and homes.
Supply Chain Stability
The representative highlighted that the demand for solar-linked batteries is rising, with suppliers maintaining ample stock and stable prices. He pointed out that supply chains for electrical appliances remain unaffected by the tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, as these goods pass through Bab al-Mandab via the Port of Aqaba, sourced mainly from China and East Asia.
Regulatory Warnings and Consumer Advice
Al-Zoubi issued a stern warning to citizens against installing solar systems through anything other than officially registered and licensed companies. He stressed the importance of obtaining necessary approvals from competent authorities to avoid fines or technical damages.
Furthermore, he urged caution regarding misleading advertisements on social media, particularly those offering low-priced lighting units of unknown origin. Such products often fail to meet Jordanian standards and specifications and lack quality.
Market Dynamics
The Jordan Chamber of Commerce is in constant coordination with the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to streamline procedures and ensure the flow of goods.
Al-Zoubi concluded by noting that the Kingdom’s electrical appliance market is highly competitive, with over 3,000 traders across Amman and the governorates, providing approximately 25,000 jobs. (Petra)
