"No one is able to stop this war in our region, specifically in the Gulf, except Trump," Sisi stated.

Context of the Regional Conflict
The war on Iran erupted on February 28, 2026, following extensive airstrikes launched by the United States and Israel against vital facilities, military installations, and command centers in Tehran and other cities. These strikes resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the first day, along with several high-ranking officials, including the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, and prominent leaders of the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC).

In retaliation, Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones toward Israel and various regional countries, while simultaneously closing the Strait of Hormuz, which triggered a significant surge in global energy prices.

The conflict expanded to Lebanon on March 2, after Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel following the assassination of Ali Khamenei. Israel responded with widespread airstrikes and a ground incursion into southern Lebanon.
