Workers in the food sector told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the purchasing activity for food items is proceeding normally as usual. There is no evidence of panic buying, given the nature of the local market, which is characterized by the availability of numerous alternatives and varieties for a single commodity.

Raed Habiba, a trade center owner and food importer, emphasized that the local market is functioning normally. He stated there is nothing "concerning" regarding the Kingdom’s food reserves, noting that supplies continue to arrive successively.

Similarly, Abdullah Barham, General Manager of "Sameh Mall" retail group, noted that activity in the food and essential commodities trade is good, with no high demand or crowding. He confirmed that most goods are densely available in the local market and supply chains remain continuous without issues, bolstered by daily and weekly promotional offers.

Barham pointed out that the current month of Ramadan is distinguished from the past three years by the fact that prices are affordable and within their normal averages. He explained that offers are ongoing across various commercial centers for food, cleaning supplies, and cosmetics, with no notable shortages.

On his part, Nabil Farid, Commercial Director at "Al-Farid Mall," confirmed the availability of a wide range of goods at competitive prices. However, he noted a price increase in some fresh items, such as meat, poultry, fruits, and vegetables, due to lower supply, calling for the continued suspension of exports for key commodities.

Food sector expert Raed Hamada affirmed that the market is witnessing a clear abundance and price stability, with stocks sufficient for comfortable periods. He noted that recent government measures have enhanced the flexibility of supply chains and reduced operating costs for importers and traders, positively impacting market stability. — (Petra)
