Ajloun Governorate is considered one of Jordan’s richest regions in plant biodiversity, characterized by a vast array of wild and natural flora that form an essential part of its green cover. Among the most prominent is the White Chamomile (Anthemis), which flourishes in the spring, painting a distinctive aesthetic landscape across the mountains and plains, while holding significant ecological and agricultural value.

Agricultural and environmental experts emphasized that White Chamomile enhances vegetation through its natural spread in forested and agricultural lands. It provides a suitable habitat for microorganisms and beneficial insects, such as bees and butterflies, thereby supporting ecological balance and promoting the natural pollination of crops.
Eng. Seetan Al-Sarhan, Director of Ajloun Agriculture, stated that the widespread presence of White Chamomile reflects the health of the governorate's ecosystem, asserting that preserving wild plants is a priority for supporting agricultural sustainability.
Eng. Riham Al-Momani, Head of the Junaid Agricultural Center, highlighted the importance of expanding the protection of local plants, including chamomile, for their role in supporting biodiversity and conserving natural resources.
Furthermore, Dr. Moath Qasim Al-Qudah noted that chamomile possesses both medicinal and economic value, as it is utilized in pharmaceutical and herbal industries, in addition to its role in improving environmental quality.
Amer Al-Momani, a member of the "Environment Unites Us" initiative, said that raising environmental awareness and fostering a culture of preserving wild plants contributes to protecting Ajloun’s natural heritage, calling for the involvement of the local community in environmental initiatives.
Wasfi Abu Kaff, an apothecary owner, explained that chamomile is rich in natural compounds such as flavonoids and volatile oils. It is used in traditional medicine to treat various conditions, including headaches, high blood pressure, and inflammation, and it possesses antibacterial and antioxidant properties beneficial to the body.
Hashem Shwayyat, a member of the "Our Tourism is Our Wealth" initiative, emphasized that the significance of chamomile extends beyond the environment to aesthetics and tourism. During its flowering season, it creates an attractive natural scene that bolsters ecotourism in Ajloun, especially with the growing interest in nature trails and rural excursions.
