Speaking from a site near the UN meetings, Waltz noted that the United States has delivered significant humanitarian supplies — including tents, shelters, tarps, medical materials, foodstuffs, flour, and other essential items — to help meet the basic needs of Palestinians affected by the crisis.
“We are grateful for our partnership with Jordan and for the vital role it plays in facilitating the delivery of these supplies,” he said. Waltz added that the newly implemented ceasefire and the release of hostages have opened the door for the next stage of humanitarian and recovery efforts.
The ambassador stressed that current priorities include preparing for Gaza’s reconstruction, enhancing security, and ensuring the continued flow of life-saving humanitarian aid, eventually moving toward large-scale rebuilding.
Waltz emphasized that the U.S. delegation is in Amman to break down bureaucratic barriers and expedite all necessary steps to advance humanitarian work and support Gaza’s recovery, saying, “We’re here to keep things moving.”
