The United States and a number of its partners, including Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, called on the Security Council to “expedite” the adoption of the draft resolution.

Jordan, the United States, Qatar, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Turkey expressed their “joint support” for the U.S. draft resolution, which authorizes the creation of an international stability force, among other measures, and expressed hope for its swift adoption.

Last week, the United States officially launched negotiations within the 15-member Security Council on a text intended to follow up on the ceasefire in the ongoing two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas and to support the Trump plan.

Washington and its partners stated, “We affirm that this is a genuine effort, and that the plan provides a practical path toward peace and stability—not only between Israelis and Palestinians, but for the entire region.”

The draft resolution proposes the establishment of a “Peace Council,” a transitional governing body for Gaza theoretically headed by Trump, with a mandate extending until the end of 2027.

It authorizes member states to form a “temporary international stability force” to work alongside Israel, Egypt, and the newly trained Palestinian police to help secure border areas and disarm Gaza.

Unlike previous drafts, the resolution references the possibility of a future Palestinian state.

Israeli media quoted a senior official saying that the chances of passing the U.S. draft resolution on Gaza in the Security Council are “high,” amid signs of broad acceptance within the council.

Palestinian factions and political forces warned of the risks of the U.S. draft resolution, describing it as an attempt to impose international oversight over Gaza and advance a plan biased toward the occupation.

In a political memorandum, Palestinian factions stated that the proposed text paves the way for external dominance over Palestinian national decision-making, by transferring governance and reconstruction in Gaza to an international supranational entity with broad powers, effectively stripping Palestinians of the right to manage their own affairs.

Israeli officials said on Saturday that Tel Aviv is demanding that the international stability force tasked with peacekeeping in Gaza be granted wide-ranging authority. According to Israeli media, Israel wants the force to have the power to disarm armed groups while protecting civilians, under Chapter VII authorization.
