Reuters reported that a fire has broken out at the Bapco refinery complex in Riffa, Bahrain.
The Bapco oil refinery complex in Sitra, Bahrain, is the oldest refinery in the Arabian Gulf and is operated by Bapco Energies, which is owned by the Bahraini government.
Its current refining capacity is 267,000 barrels per day, with ongoing projects to modernize and expand production capacity. The refinery was previously attacked in March 2026, leading to a declaration of force majeure.
Shortly ago, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior announced the activation of warning sirens due to a potential threat.
The ministry urged citizens and residents to remain calm, proceed to the nearest safe location, and avoid using main roads unless necessary to ensure public safety.
In its statement, the ministry added: “We will provide further guidance shortly to ensure the safety and security of everyone.”
