During the tour, the Minister and Mayor were briefed by Dr. Moayad Abu Farda, General Manager of the Integrated Multimodal Transport Company, on the operational mechanism and monitoring screens that regulate the buses’ departure and arrival times. They also reviewed the technical and operational oversight system supervised by the Integrated Company as the project's authorized operator. The officials toured the complex facilities and inspected one of the buses assigned to the project, which is scheduled to depart on time.
The trial launch was also attended by Eng. Riyadh Al-Kharabsheh, Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority; Salah Al-Louzi, Chairman of the Board of the Integrated Multimodal Transport Company; and Dr. Moayad Abu Farda, General Manager of the company.
In a press statement, the Minister of Transport emphasized that the transport project between Amman and the governorate centers represents a strategic step complementing ongoing developments in Amman. The project is part of a comprehensive plan aiming to achieve a qualitative leap in public transport services across the Kingdom over the next five years. She added that once all project phases are completed, the Ministry and the Land Transport Regulatory Authority will begin upgrading transport services within the governorates and districts themselves, enhancing system integration and ensuring fair service for all citizens.
The first phase of the project includes two routes: Irbid–Amman and Jerash–Amman. Operational procedures for these routes have been completed, including the installation of devices on buses and contract signings with operating companies. The second phase, covering Salt–Amman and Karak–Amman routes, is scheduled for gradual launch in August.
For his part, Amman’s Mayor, Dr. Yousef Al-Shawareb, affirmed that the project marks a genuine qualitative shift toward a smart, reliable public transport system that improves service efficiency and elevates comfort and safety for users. He described the project as an integrated model for inter-governorate transport and a key pillar in promoting sustainable transport throughout the Kingdom.
The launch of the first phase crowns the efforts of the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with Greater Amman Municipality, to develop public transport between the capital and the governorates of Irbid, Jerash, Salt, and Karak. This is achieved through a modern operational model that considers technical, administrative, and supervisory aspects, following a defined timeline ensuring readiness before the end of 2025.
The project is part of the Ministry’s and Authority’s plan to restructure public transport services between Amman and governorate centers to enhance network efficiency, safety, and passenger comfort while providing organized and reliable transport services. It includes major routes linking Amman with Irbid, Jerash, Salt, and Karak—among the most heavily used by citizens. The official operation is expected to roll out in two stages during July and August, supported by specially established operating companies.
