The summit’s opening session, titled “Bridging Global and Regional Tourism Experiences: Building Genuine Links Between Markets and Cultural Bridges – Tourism as a Gateway to Opportunities Between the Middle East and the UK”, was moderated by Deputy Speaker of the UK House of Commons, Nusrat Ghani, with participation from Shabib Al-Maamari, CEO of Visit Oman, and Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al-Ghasani, Mayor of Dhofar.

During his speech, attended by Jordanian Ambassador to London, Manar Al-Dabbas, Al-Khudair noted that Jordan’s tourism sector faced significant challenges in 2024 and 2025 due to regional instability affecting travel patterns, but emphasized that Jordan has consistently demonstrated resilience and recovery capacity.

He added that Jordan’s participation in international tourism conferences reflects the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ and the Jordan Tourism Board’s commitment to enhancing the Kingdom’s position on the regional and global tourism map.

Al-Khudair stated, “The future of tourism in Jordan is promising, and we will continue developing the sector to ensure the Kingdom remains among the most attractive destinations globally,” emphasizing the ministry’s focus on supporting local communities and promoting innovation in tourism within 2026 plans.

Speakers at the session discussed cultural shifts and practices shaping current tourism trends, with Al-Khudair highlighting pioneering Jordanian tourism experiences and outlining future plans for sector development, including the launch of a comprehensive tourism Super App that integrates various services into a unified system and places local communities at the heart of the tourist experience.

Al-Maamari spoke about Visit Oman’s future programs, aimed at attracting global tourism to the Sultanate, and explored opportunities for collaboration between Middle Eastern countries and the UK across tourism and travel sectors.

The summit concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing leading Arab entities in tourism and hospitality, where the Jordanian Heritage Revival Company was honored for its role in enhancing Jordanian tourism experiences, supporting local communities, and creating job opportunities.

The WTM London 2025, held for the 35th time, features over 4,000 exhibitors from more than 180 countries and is expected to host around 45,000 tourism and travel professionals, serving as a global platform to promote destinations and foster cooperation among ministries, tourism boards, clients, and travel agents worldwide.
