Strict Measures Against Unlicensed Ride-Hailing Applications – Here’s What You Need to Know
The Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, Eng. Riyadh Al-Kharabsheh, revealed that unlicensed ride-hailing applications are currently being given the opportunity to rectify their status and proceed with licensing procedures in order to continue operating. He stressed that within six months, unlicensed applications will no longer be allowed to operate on the Kingdom’s streets.اضافة اعلان

Al-Kharabsheh said in a radio interview that legal measures stipulated by law will be taken if the grace period expires without obtaining a license, emphasizing that any application that fails to do so will be banned once the deadline passes.

He confirmed that there will be no increase in fares for ride-hailing applications or for yellow taxis, noting that the system stipulates that fares for ride-hailing applications should be 20% higher than those of yellow taxis. However, intense competition among applications has led some to violate the approved fare structure.

He added that the ride-hailing regulatory system has been in place since 2018, and that the Commission affirmed in a statement issued yesterday that applications must comply with the system to avoid regulatory measures being taken against them.
